On Election Day, Tuesday November 8, 1960, the presidential candidate and his wife posed underneath the American flag on the Kennedy compound. It would take that day, that night and most of the following morning before John Kennedy would squeeze into the presidency with the slimmest electoral margin ever, a little more than 100,000 votes.
